Help End Illiteracy

World-wide, 27% of all adults are illiterate. Ninety-eight percent are in developing nations, however, in the United States today, there are millions of functionally illiterate adults. This means that they cannot function effectively when encountering written documents such as apartment rental agreements, driving tests, employment applications or newspapers.

Statistics show us that illiteracy is increasing and only a very small percentage of adults who need help are being reached.

Almost half of the people with the lowest literacy skills live in poverty, and the children of illiterate parents are less prepared to begin school and more likely to drop out.
